Dronfield Christadelphian Church organises three activities on Sundays in the morning.  Firstly from 10 to 10:45 we have a “Bible over Coffee” for older teenagers and adults which runs at the same time as our Sunday School which caters for ages from 5 to early teens.  Following this our “Breaking of Bread Service” takes place from 11:00 to around 12:15.  This is also knows as the “Memorial Service” because the focus is on remembering Jesus (hence memorial) and we do that by sharing bread and wine.  Read more below.

A First Principal Bible Discussion

Every Sunday from 10 to10:45 Dronfield Christadelphian Church invite all who are interested to join them in an informal and friendly atmosphere, to a discussion about different aspects of the Bible and it’s message. Click here to view upcoming topics.

Christadelphians have no formal ministry or structure, (we  have a form of lay ministry), and our members come from all walks of life, so the subjects we choose are equally varied. All the sessions aim to be simple and easy to follow, and they include many personal and practical topics, with the emphasis on relating the teaching of the Bible to the realities of life.

Everyone can participate in the discussions or ask questions if they want to, but if you prefer to sit quietly and listen then that’s fine too.   We start and finish with a short prayer, but there are no hymns.  You don’t need to be a Christadelphian, a church-goer, or a even a Christian to come along and join in — just have an interest in what the Bible has to say.  The aim is for all of us to learn a little more about the Bible and God’s purpose in our lives. (Free) refreshments in the form of tea or coffee are provided – which everybody is welcome to share.

Breaking Of Bread

Remembering Jesus Christ

With only occasional exceptions, the Christadelphian Church in Dronfield hold their Breaking of Bread (communion) service every Sunday morning at 11.00am.  The service follows a similar pattern each week; prayers and hymns to open and close, two Bible readings, and two collections, one of which is for a charitable cause which varies from week to week.

The heart of the service is the remembering of the sacrificial death of Jesus, by the sharing of bread and wine as symbols of his body and his blood.  Prior to this, there is a 20-30 minute sermon, (Christadelphians call it an ‘exhortation’), which is intended to lead the congregation suitably to the bread and wine. The exhortation, which is Bible-based, is given by a different speaker each week. Christadelphians have a lay ministry, so speakers are either Dronfield members or visitors from other nearby Christadelphian churches. The service usually last for 1¼ hours.

Sunday School runs from 10am to 10:45am on alternate Sunday mornings. All children between the ages of 3 to early teens are welcome to join in.  All the teachers are DBS checked. Occasionally, the children join with the adults for special events e.g. Prize Giving, Harvest Festival and Christmas services, and on these occasions parents are encouraged to come and support their children. Other activities involving the children are arranged throughout the year, for example a trip to a Christmas pantomime and a Sunday School outing. Everything takes place in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and parents are welcome to stay and support their child during the morning or on an initial visit.

“A fantastic ecclesia, full of dedicated, hardworking members. Breaking of Bread and Bible Hour services are a joy to attend and there are always other activities to hand that the who family can get involved with. We look forward to revisiting Dronfield Christadelphians. ”
